If it’s not working you need it on to take readings at the sprinkler valve…) and it would also solve my needs. This would also be a nice sprinkler system test and debug feature (5 seconds is NOT long enough to see if the zone around the other side of the house came on, you need to leave it on and go look. It would be great if the main web page that shows valve status had click-able buttons on it that would work like radio buttons to turn one of the zones on at a time (and an “all off” button as well of course). Password is already handled by logging onto the wifi router connected to the OpenSprinkler. I might also use it to control sprinklers with later but for now I just want an on and off button, no password, no going through multiple menus. I want to be able to turn it on and off from my vehicle while operating the wipers. It needs to be softened up with a jet spray of water. It is too thick to use the wiper fluid reservoir, it will all be gone before the windshield is cleaned. Each AM when I go to work I have to get the hose out and clean the windshield. The real reason I purchased your controller is that my home town is very “buggy” in the summertime. Of course, I would like to do this from my Android tablet/phone, not Windows. Do you have some way to send on/off commands via a command line utility? For example, something like the Windows “Net Send” command. If not, what is the exact cable that you showed in your v1.1 video that I should buy?Īlso, I would like to have a way to immediately turn on a specific valve. If I buy this cable, will the pinout be compatible with the 1.1 OpenSprinkler that I just purchased?: Besides, the Sparkfun FTDI breakout is discontinued (you might want to update your web site to reflect this). This extra humidity means your homes humidifier doesn't have to work quite so hard either.I prefer to use a full cable instead of a USB cable that connects to an open board that connects to your Berg header. This cost electricity (hydo electric is everywhere) AND it can help add humidity to the home - simply by openning the dishwasher and letting the steam out. Dishwashers run every two days is a great way to keep things in perspective.and remove the "heat drying" cycle. Using washing machines at maximum capacity is an excellent option. Low flush toilets (6 gallons or less) can save as much as 30% of home water use. Mulch holds a tremendous amount of water that it releases over days. Limitting your watering to only 2-3 nights per week and only using an hour or two of water at a time. Even if you restrict the watering to morning and evenings, you are still throwing away as much as 30% due to immediate evaporation into the air because the ground is too warm. Watering after the sun has set is your BIGGEST form of savings when it comes to lawn and plant maintenance. It is still faster and more reliable than wireless. Speaker wires and CAT5 for internet are still a good idea. I prefer a very large antenna in the attic with a booster for all the TVs over paying for cable. At least make sure you have the power for one up there. Dedicated circuit for freezer in garage or basement. Make sure they run an extra circuit to any unfinished areas. Run conduit raceways under all the concrete. Run circuits for outdoor lighting even if you are not planning on it at this time. With the newer LED bulbs, you can get many more on one circuit, but the circuits should all run on one timer so all the lights come on at the same time. They should run off a timer in the garage. Soffit outlets for Christmas lights are often overlooked. The size of an entry light can often play a part in where it is placed. Accent lighting is a major part of the overall lighting in many rooms. Where you want art on the wall is also good to know. Believe it or not, some electricians even place the wall outlets for optimum use by your furniture placement. This helps in placing floor outlets and indirect down lighting. You need to bring a plan with furniture layout drawn on it to scale. This needs to include all the fillers so the drawers miss the door casing when pulled out, etc. You need to bring a finalized kitchen and bath cabinet plan with you. The bases on sconces can be at the top, middle or bottom in relation to the bulb. Sconces hung at eye level isn't a good answer. Well, good to know that I have been putting the switches at the proper height all these years :) You need to know what lights you are going to use before the walk-through.
